Meet Jente
“I am an artist and art educator whose work is rooted in nature. By working directly with materials such as sand, clay, and soil, I create abstract compositions that reveal the hidden stories of the earth.
Through my practice, I invite viewers to look closer at the ground beneath their feet — to discover its beauty, fragility, and the importance of caring for the natural world.”
My Story
I am an artist from the Netherlands whose practice is deeply rooted in nature. From an early age, I felt a strong connection with the landscape around me — a source of curiosity, imagination, and inspiration that has never left.
Growing up in a creative family, I was surrounded by art and culture. This environment encouraged me to explore drawing, painting, and later more conceptual forms of expression. My grandmother, artist and teacher Heleen Bovenberg, showed me that art is not only about technique, but also about perspective: the ability to discover beauty in places where others might overlook it.
This foundation led me to study Fine Art and Design at ArtEZ in Zwolle, where I developed both as an artist and as an educator. During my studies, I explored the relationship between art and nature — research that continues to guide my artistic practice today. My work seeks to make the invisible stories of the earth visible, creating space for reflection on our connection with the natural world.
